It belongs to a series of 5 original charcoal works devoted to 5 endangered species, each sold through an online auction. All proceeds went to the Zoo Foundation, an organization devoted to conservation, research and education projects.

Once called the "Siberian tiger," this feline has gone unseen in its part of the world for many years, with fewer than 500 Amur tigers surviving in the wild. Critically endangered, it is hunted for its fur, and many of its body parts feed the manufacture of traditional Asian medicine products.
