The Beluga Cove in Coastal is a buckle carrier, sold by its maker as the Beluga Buckle, for babies and toddlers. With your child secured close to you, your hands are free. It includes a hood and a zippered hood pocket, and the longer hood straps make the hood simpler to pull up when your child is on your back.

Handmade in Canada, locally in Vancouver, by technicians paid a living wage, it is made from a breathable blend of 55% hemp and 45% organic cotton that stays soft and thin while giving good support. Women from size 0 (XXS) to size 22/24 (XXXL) tested the fit, and the waistband extends from 26 to 52 inches. The curved shoulder straps wrap around you, distribute your child's weight evenly and adjust in two directions, and fit adjustment straps on the shoulder panels let you fine-tune them. Inside, a deep pleated seat adjusts in width to hold your child knee to knee, and leg padding prevents chafing behind the knees. The waistband has higher density padding that keeps its shape, the chest and back clip is held by reinforced rails so it won't slide, and the straps are beige. It is certified hip healthy by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute and made by a mama-run business.

Made for babies and children weighing 7 to 50 pounds, from newborn to about four years. You can wear it on the front or the hip; carry on your back only once your child can sit unassisted.
