As I create each charcoal animal, I draw on what it stands for symbolically, so each one carries a distinct presence. Meet my deer with the sparkling eyes. Maxime shares the story behind the photo: Anticosti Island, November 29, 2020. "Anticosti Island is a very popular place for hunters, because the density of white-tailed deer is exceptional. In the small port village of Port-Menier and its surroundings, hunting is prohibited and the deer have long understood this. Many of them spend their day walking around the village. I took advantage of this sense of trust in humans to get up close and photograph this magnificent buck during a snowstorm."
